Sanford Bemidji Peak Performance employs a dedicated team of therapists providing:
- Physical Therapy: assisting you to regain strength, endurance, balance, and coordination to allow for independence with walking and general mobility.
- Occupational Therapy: helping you to regain independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and cooking.
- Speech-Language Pathology: working to improve swallow function, cognition (mental functioning dealing with learning and reasoning), and communication skills.

Our therapists practice in many settings. Because all of our Peak Performance therapists are part of the same program, they are able to communicate easily among each other and share the latest information about your care. This direct line of communication is important in coordinating the care that you need, care that is matched by no other provider in the area. Your health and ability to function as independently as possible are the primary focus of our therapy staff. Immediately following injury, illness, or surgery, we are able to begin the recovery process in any of the following environments.
Inpatient Therapy
Therapists evaluate and treat your ability to complete activities of daily living (ADL), the normal things you do daily, such as dressing, bathing, toileting, etc. Their goal is to help with faster recovery and to prepare patients for the return to home and their community.
Acute Rehab Unit
Acute rehabilitation is a specialty that provides an intensive inpatient program to enable people who have experienced some major injury, disorder, or illness (such as a stroke) to regain the skills needed to return to the community.
WoodsEdge – Neilson Place
Neilson’s rehabilitation program usually follows a hospitalization. The program offers an expanded level of service to patients in need of short-term rehabilitation care before returning home.
Home Care
Skilled therapists provide rehab therapy in a home setting; allowing individuals greater community independence.
Outpatient Therapy
Therapists specialize in the treatment of a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological ailments for individuals of all ages.
Peak Pediatrics specializes in therapy services for pediatric patients, ages newborn to 21.
Speech and Language Pathology
Specially trained speech and language therapists are available in all the above settings to help patients with a variety of issues, including difficulty swallowing, speech and language, and cognition—a person’s thought process and ability to learn and reason.
