Friends of Sanford Health Scholarship Recipients
Friends of Sanford Health awarded 10 $1,500 scholarships to area students pursuing careers in a health-related field. Funds for the scholarships are from profits of the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center Gift Shop. The 2012 recipients include the following:
Elizabeth Engum is a 1999 graduate of Warroad High School, currently employed at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center and enrolled at Bemidji State University (BSU) working on her bachelor’s of science degree in Nursing.
Danielle Gendron is a 2012 graduate of Cass Lake High School. She is in the process of pursuing her nursing degree at BSU.
Derek Holden graduated from Park Rapids High School in 2008 and is studying at Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND, for his bachelor of science degree in nursing.
Ben Holter, a Bemidji High School (BHS) graduate of 2010, is studying to be a physical therapist at South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD.
Mary Kading graduated from Park Rapids High School in 2010 and is now pursuing a medical laboratory science degree at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.
Joseph Kortes is currently finishing his LPN (licensed practical nurse) degree at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, MN, and has been accepted into the RN (registered nurse) program.
Leah Larson graduated from BHS in 2012 and is attending the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, pursuing a medical degree.
Rachel Lash graduated from Trek North High School in 2011 and is presently studying for a degree in nursing at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, OH.
Emily Olson, a 2012 BHS graduate, is studying physical therapy at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.
Jenise Ropp, a 2012 home school graduate, is pursuing an RN nursing degree at BSU.
